A Retro-Inspired Engagement Shoot in Downtown Las Vegas with full of neons

Talia and Tate’s engagement session was one of those downtown Las Vegas nights that felt like it already had its own soundtrack. This session was captured on 35mm film and 120 film.

We photographed mostly around Fremont Street at night, when all the neon signs were glowing and everything had that colorful, cinematic Vegas feeling. Downtown is always one of my favorite places for engagement photos because you don’t have to over-plan it too much. You can just start walking, follow the lights, stop when something looks good, and somehow every corner feels like a completely different little scene.

Talia’s look was so perfect for the setting. She wore a babydoll dress with platform heels, paired with the prettiest vintage inspired hair and makeup by Atomic Style Lounge. It all worked so well with the downtown neon. The whole look felt playful, romantic, and very her.

For this session, we took one of my favorite downtown routes: starting near El Cortez and slowly making our way toward Plaza Hotel. I love this area because it gives you so many different backdrops in a pretty short walk. The lights, the signs, the old Vegas textures, the crosswalks, the hotel glow. It’s such a good option if you want a shorter session but still want the gallery to feel full and varied.

That’s one of the best things about downtown Las Vegas engagement photos. You don’t need a million locations or a huge timeline to make something interesting. Especially at night, the city does so much of the work for you. A little flash, a lot of neon, a couple who is down to wander, and suddenly the whole session feels like a tiny movie.

Talia and Tate were so easy to photograph together. They had that natural, comfortable kind of chemistry where the little in-between moments ended up being just as sweet as the posed ones. Walking through downtown, holding hands under the signs, laughing between shots, stopping wherever the light felt right. Those are always my favorite kinds of photos, the ones that feel like you can actually remember the night.

If you’re planning engagement photos in Las Vegas and want something colorful, nostalgic, and a little more fun than traditional portraits, downtown Fremont Street is such a good choice. It’s especially perfect at night if you love neon, flash, vintage-inspired outfits, and photos that feel like an old rom-com.

Planning Downtown Las Vegas Engagement Photos

For couples who want a shorter engagement session, the route from El Cortez to Plaza Hotel is one of my favorites. It’s walkable, full of variety, and has that classic old Vegas feeling without needing to drive around to multiple places.

A few things that work especially well for this kind of session: outfits with personality, comfortable shoes or at least shoes you can walk in, and being open to wandering a little. Downtown is best when there’s room to follow the light and let the night unfold naturally.
